Consisting of letter, 12 Oct. 1780, Charles Town, S.C., from Carne to Chr[istophe]r Rolleston, re business conditions, the prevalence of Scottish merchants, and presence of British troops, "Our good Kings officers are now performing their duty with a Spirit, which had it been exerted in [the] beginning whould have nipped the Rebellion in the Budd." Also including photocopies of 2 letters, 3 Jan. and 12 July 1782, Charles Town, S.C., to James Blair, "Merchant, St. Thomas [Virgin Islands]," re decision to remain in Charleston to recover debts, fearing property confiscation, leaving for England, and expecting to suffer "the same Fate with Loyalists of Savannah."
